From 1 April 2026, we will adjust our rules for everyone who advertises on our platform.

In response to developments in the market and in consultation with relevant stakeholders, we are required to tighten our verification policy. This means we are introducing additional checks for advertisers who offer in-person services. This step aligns with our responsibility as an online platform under applicable laws and regulations. Below, we explain the changes.

1. Mandatory identity verification

From 1 April 2026, we will carry out a digital identity check for self-employed advertisers. This allows us to verify nationality and confirm that someone is 21+. This means that when creating or keeping an advertisement active, a valid identity document must be presented digitally. Important to know:

  • The identity document is scanned on the user’s device.
  • The document is not stored in our systems.
  • The document does not leave the user’s device.
  • We only record the data strictly necessary for verification, namely the date of birth and nationality.

From 1 April onwards, we will ask existing advertisers to re-verify themselves using this digital identity check. Without this verification, an advertisement cannot remain online.

2. Working in the Netherlands

For advertisers offering in-person services in the Netherlands who hold a nationality from outside the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, we will request additional documentation, such as a valid work permit or residence permit that allows employment. If an advertiser is not entitled to work in the Netherlands, an advertisement cannot remain active.

3. Digital confirmation of your details

From 1 April 2026, we will ask all advertisers to digitally confirm that they:

  • Are lawfully residing in the Netherlands, and
  • Are permitted to work here

This confirmation forms part of the verification process.

Closing

The new rules will be introduced step by step, starting from 1 April.
